Tragic news from Dickson Street this morning. Bruce Walker, owner of Flying Possum Leather, died in a fire at the shop. Bugsy, the “Dickson St. Dog,” made it out ok. Bruce opened Flying Possum in 1976, his leather guitar straps and sandals became world renowned.

Bruce, only 57 years old, represented one of the last of his kind. He was proud of his craftsmanship and Fayetteville was proud of him.

A memorial has formed outside the shop.
